The Report Writing feature allows you to define, run and print reports. If you are a system administrator, you may also need to purge old reports from time to time, and set up users' Report Profiles.
Retention times for various elements are coded in an internal table. For example, the retention time for archived reports is 30 days. Reports older than 30 days are removed from the system every time the "purge" job runs. As explained in Set Up Schedules for Batch Jobs, you can schedule the purge job to run as needed, for example, daily.
If a hospital wishes to keep reports longer than 30 days, the hospital needs to download the reports to a local network directory, where they can be accessed as needed.
A purge deletes the following information:
Important: A purge deletes not only old reports, but other data as well. (See the previous list.)
From the main Contents, select Work in Administration > Administration > Weekly Purge. The system asks if you would like to run the weekly purge.
Click Yes.
The system runs the purge program and deletes old data.
A user's ability to create, run, and view reports depends on whether a report profile is assigned to the person's User Profile; and if so, which report profile. A report profile limits the reports that a user can access, so that not all users at a site will be authorized for all reports.
A detailed discussion of Report Profiles is in Working with Report Profiles.
